Melbourne byelection: Nolte energises policy debate

David Nolte has unveiled his energy policy, promoting both solar and brown coal options.

Mr Nolte, a Liberal Party member running as an independent in the Melbourne byelection, released his energy and policing policies last week.

Mr Nolte said he wants Metro Trains and Yarra Trams to get 10 per cent of their power from Victorian-based renewable solar energy generating power stations, which he proposed building.

He said he also wanted Melbourne to become a global centre of brown coal expertise.
