YARRA council has appointed Vijaya Vaidyanath as its new chief executive.
Ms Vaidyanath, who is currently Darebin Council's director of corporate and business services, will join Yarra by early July.
She replaces Andi Diamond, who left in April to take up the position as chief executive at the City of Monash. Mayor Geoff Barbour said Ms Vaidyanath would bring "vision and enthusiasm" to the role.
"We had a very impressive field of candidates but I must say that Ms Vaidyanath stood out for the passion, experience and leadership she will bring to Yarra," he said.
