 Metropolis: Word on the street

Metropolis: Word on the street

21 Feb, 2012 09:27 AM
MORELAND City Council has decided some of its roads are so hazardous to pedestrians that a mere letter to the state government won’t suffice.

Opting for a more personal touch, the council has issued a special invitation (or perhaps challenge) to State Transport Minister Terry Mulder. The approved motion asks for Mulder and a “school-aged child relative” to personally cross Hilton, Glenroy and Cumberland roads – thoroughfares deemed to be some of the toughest for pedestrians to cross.

Councillor Kathleen Matthews-Ward, who put forward the motion, said the experience would give the minister an insight into the plight faced by residents when crossing the intersections with a loved one.
