 Metropolis: Strange bedfellows

Metropolis: Strange bedfellows

HOW inappropriate. These two neighbours have been co-habiting for years, but it seems like no one has ever noticed the odd couple: a strip club right next to a play centre for children on Arthurton Road in Northcote.

We guess it’s not so bad as the hours they keep are discrete, so to speak. The play centre is open from about 9.30am, whereas the strip club closes at 5am. But the club’s opening times could cross over, with ‘‘Tradies’ jugs shows’’ starting at 4pm on Fridays.

While the club boasts bondage nights and bucks parties the play centre offers fun birthday parties and ball pits.

The club was the focus of a Darebin council planning rule enforcement which failed in 2010 aimed at closing the club. To check it out on Google maps, visit http://bit.ly/x8hQYe.
