Cops out to can the can

Cops out to can the can

22 Feb, 2012 05:10 PM
Senior Sergeant Ciaran Boyle and Sergeant Lindy Ellison take a tour of Richmond station in preparation for a two-week police operation targeting graffiti and vandalism around the City of Yarra. Transit Safety Division members will work in uniform and plain clothes, patrolling the train and tram network. Mr Boyle says graffiti is a serious crime, not just a public nuisance. ‘‘Graffiti is a criminal damage offence and one that police and the community take very seriously,’’ he says. ‘‘I ask would-be perpetrators to reconsider their actions and think twice about offending, and in turn, the whole community will benefit.’’
