Description:
'Gasland' coming to Victoria
Friends of the Earth will hold a series of forums in Victoria to highlight the threat posed by the expansion of Coal Seam Gas (CSG), coal, and shale gas in the region, featuring leading anti-CSG campaigner Drew Hutton.
These forums start next monday. Events are planned in Warrnambool, Colac, Ballarat, Geelong and Melbourne.
Drew Hutton is the president of the Lock the Gate Alliance which has brought together farmers and environmentalists in a powerful campaign against coal seam gas in Queensland.
Victoria is seeing a surge in coal seam gas exploration. This will threaten landscapes, ground water, communities and food security. Proposed new fossil fuel operations will also have a massive climate change impact.
